WHAT ABOUT THE TEAM TIMING?
THE AMY GILLETT FOUNDATION

Fund Raising
The Amy Gillett Foundation
On average each year, over 2,550 cyclists are either killed or injured on our roads. This awful fact is only the tip of the iceberg - most cyclists can also account their own “close calls” where, by sheer luck, the outcome was not worse. As the numbers of cars and bicycles increases on our roads, the Amy Gillett Foundation is working hard to ensure these statistics don’t escalate.

Amy was one of Australia’s finest competitive cyclists and the nation shared the grief of her family and team mates when she was tragically killed on the road whilst training in Germany 2005. Inspired by her life, and a determination to make a difference to safety on our roads, the Foundation was formed to reduce death and injury between cyclists and motorists.
In only its second year, the Amy Gillett Foundation has started making a real difference to cyclists’ safety on the road for example we’re talking to millions of Australians through media to build respect for each other on our roads; leading accident research, to influence and change policy for building and managing safer roads; equipping learner drivers with the know-how on driving with cyclists with a national driver education programme; and championing the issue of cycling safety with road authorities.
2009 will be even bigger with 4 new education initiatives in development, but they will falter unless we can raise more funds to help us continue the work. You can make a significant difference to the success of our work, by making a donation to the Amy Gillett Foundation and join with the cycling community in helping make our roads safer. Thanks for your support and safe riding!
