SCODY Teams Plus Feedback winnersI
Friday 28 November, 2008.
Thanks very much to all of you that responded to our Feedback Email. We really appreciate your feedback on the inaugural Teams Plus ... be assured we will use your feedback to improve the 2009 event.

Congratulations to Peta Beaumont of Waterways (we'd never heard of it either - apparently it's out the back of Mordialloc) and David Aitken of Hawthorn East. They've each won a 10-speed cassette and a 10-speed chain from SRAM and a free entry into the Holden High Country Cycle Challenge, from Steve and Bruce of Bikevents Australia.

See you all at the next SCODY Teams Plus! (And maybe at the Holden High Country Cycle Challenge too ...)

SCODY Teams Plus wrap-up.
Thursday 20 November, 2008.
Thanks very much to all riders for entering the SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula. Everyone we came into contact with seems to have had a great day, as did Steve and Bruce. Apologies again to Ride Option A riders for an arrow that went missing on the Jetty Road / Point Nepean Road intersection. It appears some late-night revellers may have been the culprits. Then again, it was fairly windy so the sign may well have just been blown off the lamp post.

There are a lot of people and organisations we need to thank for helping make the ride happen:

  • Many thanks to all our marshals and volunteers, most of whom are from the local Lions Club and Rotary Club.
  • Many thanks to our sponsors - SCODY, CycleCover, Avanti, Specialized, Torq, SRAM and Bicycling Australia for their support of Bikevents Australia. Without their support, our events couldn't go ahead.
  • Thank you also to the Mornington Peninsula Shire for allowing their roads to be inundated with cyclists for the weekend. (Let's hope we make the roads even busier for next year!)
  • And thank YOU for your donations to the Amy Gillett Foundation - overall the ride raised $2,794.

Finally, all entrants will soon be receiving a Feedback Email from Bruce and Steve. They'd like to find out what you really liked about Teams Plus and what you'd change for next time. As an incentive to tell Bikevents what you really think, two lucky respondents will each receive a SRAM Red 10-speed cassette (11-26) and a matching SRAM chain - each prize is worth nearly $500! Look out for the Feedback Email shortly and hopefully we'll see you all again at the next SCODY Teams Plus and at the Holden High Country Cycle Challenge in 2009.

Avanti prize winner.
Wednesday 19 November, 2008.
Congratulations to Rodney Bartlett who's name was drawn out of the 'hat' at Mornington Park on Sunday afternoon. Rodney is the winner of an Avanti Cadent 3.0, a pair of Specialized Carbon Pro shoes and a Specialized 2D helmet - a fantastic package worth over $5,000!

Rodney had left Mornington when the prize was drawn, so he didn't know he'd won. He's since been in hospital having his arm operated on from a previous injury, so he wasn't even able to return Bruce's calls until this morning. His response to his good fortune isn't repeatable in polite company, so we won't quote him. But he did sound very excited! Congratulations again Rodney ... Avanti will be in touch shortly to arrange delivery of your fabulous prize.

Times now available.
Monday 17 November, 2008.
With many thanks to the guys from CSV and Times-7, you can download the PDF of all the times from the SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula available – SCODY Teams Plus Times PDF. (Sorry it's so late ... after the event last night, Bruce and Steve went around the course again last night to pick up all the signs. Then Steve made the right call and stayed the night in Melbourne. But Bruce decided to keep going to Mansfield but couldn't make it all the way - so ended up sleeping the night in the car in Yea!)

More details on both courses.
Friday 14 November, 2008.
Cycling Profiles have produced a very detailed profile of each of the Teams Plus courses you'll be riding on Sunday ... right down to the gradient of each climb and descent. (For instance, did you know that the Arthur's Seat climb is only just over three kilometres long but it's an 8% gradient? You do now!)

Entries still open ... just not online.
Thursday 13 November, 2008.
The SCODY Teams Plus is now only a couple of days away, so we've had to close online entries to prepare our registration.

However, entries are still open! Just go to the How to Enter page and you can still download a PDF entry form. Fill the form in and bring it with you to the Registration tent at Mornington Park (Melways ref 104 D10) on Sunday morning. Or you can even call in on Saturday afternoon between 3pm and 6pm.

For more detailed information on where the ride starts, and how to find the Registration tent, download a copy of Ride Info.

Teams Plus Ride Info ... last minute news for entrants
Tuesday 11 November, 2008.
Here is the Teams Plus issue of Ride Info. Entrants, this is all the info you need for Sunday. It will tell you where to go to register, to pick up your transponder, how to install the transponder, where you'll find water during the ride, even where to get a good coffee in Flinders. Download a copy now, print it out and bring it with you. You'll find it very handy!

Everything is ready to go!
Monday 10 November, 2008.
With about 500 hardy souls already entered SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula, we can now guarantee that everyone will receive the fabulous SCODY souvenir jersey worth $100!

And don’t feel pressured to use a timer on Ride option A if you would like to ride at a more leisurely pace with friends! Timing is optional! By all means, enjoy the ride without the pressure of being timed if you would like to take in the fabulous scenery of the peninsula.

We’ll be taking entries until 9.30am on Sunday morning at Mornington Park but please enter on line to avoid any unnecessary hold ups! And don’t forget we’ll be drawing the winner of the fabulous $5000 Avanti/Specialized bike package at 3pm on Sunday at Mornington Park. Imagine if Rob Gaylard drew your name out! You have to be in it to win it!!!

New sizes available from SCODY!
Wednesday 22 October, 2008.
With recent requests for larger and smaller jersey sizes, Bernard Schreiber from SCODY today announced they'll now have XXXS, XXS and XXXL sized jerseys available for Teams Plus entrants. If you've got some kids entering as part of your team, the smaller sizes are really handy. And as someone put it recently, the new larger size is just right for the 'clydesdale class' riders!

If you've already ordered your jersey and would like to change to one of the newly available sizes, drop the organisers an email info@bikevents.com.au - and they'll change your order. These new sizes are only available in limited quantities though, so you need to be quick to get hold of one!

Neutral support from SRAM!
Tuesday 21 October, 2008.
Fresh from supplying Neutral Support for all the pro riders during the recent Jayco Herald-Sun Tour, the team from SRAM have announced they'll make their support available for SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula.

Look out for their distinctive vehicles, especially the funky little three-wheeled motorbike, during the ride. If you have a mechanical problem, they'll only be too pleased to help out!

Support from Sealy's!
Monday 8 September, 2008.
Bikevents Australia would like to welcome aboard Peter Seal and the team from Sealy's Cycles as part of the SCODY Teams Plus Mornington PeninsulaAs the local Avanti Plus dealer, Sealy's will be involved throughout the day as part of our rider support.
There will be a Sealy's Cycles vehicle towing each Sag Wagon for the two Ride Options ... and providing mechanical support. Because the drivers of each Sag Wagon will be a qualified bike mechanic from Sealy's! So, one way or another, Sealy's will get you back to Mornington - either by fixing your bike, or helping you into the Sag Wagon.
In the meantime, if you're on the Peninsula on a training ride, call into either of the Sealy's Cycles shops (1128 Nepean Hwy Mornington or 22 Beach St Frankston) and say G'day to Peter Seal or Darryl Stevens (that's Peter on the left in the pic) or any of the team and they'll help you out!

Entries are now open!
Thursday 3 July, 2008.
The inaugural SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula is now open for entries. Enter as an individual or as part of a team ... 60km or 112km. Go to the How to Enter page to find out more and get your registration in. There are three easy ways to enter; online, by fax or by post.

The first 1,000 entrants will each receive a free SCODY souvenir jersey worth $100. And you can even order a pair of matching knicks direct from SCODY. There will be heaps of other prizes given away, including a brilliant Avanti bike and Specialized shoes and helmet worth over $5,000! (And a reminder that the 60km ride does NOT go up Arthur's Seat.)

Welcome to Teams Plus
Friday 20 June, 2008.
The team behind the Holden High Country Cycle Challenge are pleased to announce a new concept in recreational riding. SCODY Teams Plus Mornington Peninsula is a recreational ride with a time trial section. So you can test yourself against your friends, team up and test yourselves against others and compare your times from year to year.

There are two distance options.
The 112km ride starts at Mornington and visits Dromana, Arthur's Seat, Rosebud, Tootgarook, Flinders, Balnarring and back to Mornington. The timed section is the first 66km from Mornington to Flinders.

The 60km ride is an easy cruise along the Mornington Peninsula's famous beachfront via Dromana and Rosebud to Tootgarook/Rye and back to Mornington via Safety Beach and Martha Cove. (Initially Steve and Bruce had planned to send this ride over Arthur's Seat too but they've since changed their mind - the 60km ride will NOT go up Arthur's Seat! You might have seen it mentioned in the July Bicycling Australia ad. They figure that if you're strong enough to get up Arthur's Seat, you'll be strong enough to do 100km plus!) It won't be timed either, so riders can take their time - stop for a coffee, visit a winery or even go for a swim!
